2Ford F-550 Technology | San Antonio, TX

Incredible hauling and towing capability only gets you so far on the worksite. On top of its oodles of power, the Ford F-550 also comes with various useful technologies that make your job easier, day in and day out.

Upfitter Switches

The Ford F-550 is equipped with six standards, factory-installed auxiliary upfitter switches, including two 40-amp switches and four 25-amp switches. The 40-amp switches can be configured to be hot at all times, regardless of whether the truck’s ignition is on or off, while the 25-amp switches are active only when the truck is running. The switches are illuminated so you know when they are on.

These switches, fuses, and associated relays are all integrated into a new overhead console and storage compartment for extra convenience. With six switches, the F-550 offers incredible capability when it comes to controlling external components like winches, lights, electric spreaders and more.

AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®)

Getting a big trailer hooked up and going is something every F-550 handles with ease, but handling trailer sway can be difficult for any driver regardless of expertise. Fortunately, the F-550 is equipped with standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, a clever technology that uses gyroscopic sensors to detect trailer sway. Before things even start getting out of control, the F-550 uses a combination of reduced engine power and selective wheel braking to help keep the truck and the trailer in tow stable.

High-torque engine with TorqShift® transmission

On paper, most heavy-duty pickup truck engines have lots of horsepower and even more torque. But in practice, it takes more than big numbers for a truck to do the job. The Ford F-550’s gasoline 7.3-liter V8 engine and 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel both deliver peak torque at impressively low RPMs, ensuring it’s always easy to take off and build momentum.

Additionally, the standard TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission is optimized to always keep you in the optimal power band. In other words, no matter the speed or gear, you can always expect a strong response when you push on the throttle.

You can also choose between four driving modes — Normal, Tow/Haul, Eco, and Deep Sand/Snow — to adapt to the operating conditions as you go.

When it comes to doing heavy-duty work, there’s no truck like the Ford F-550. Learn more about its capabilities and technologies at Grande Truck Center in San Antonio, TX!
